Are Women Naturally Indecisive?
“Decision abuse is inflicting severe punishing for making the wrong decision.”
- Janelle Lara
“Can you believe she refused to bake anything for the bake sale? I can’t believe she prioritizes work over her kids.”
“Want your wife to stop talking? Ask her where she wants to go to dinner.”
“I cannot believe you made that investment. What a waste of money.”
Are women really indecisive?
In this episode, Janelle argues that women themselves are not actually born indecisive, but rather, we have been socialized to be indecisive. Between being blackmailed for saying no, crucified for making the smallest of mistakes, or punished for making decisions that don’t pan out as planned, we are not set up to be decisive.
→ And yet, decisiveness and quick decision making is a crucial aspect of success. Decisive people are more successful, happier, and wealthier.
This supposedly “inherent” flaw, propagated by society and even ourselves in many ways, sets women up to remain stuck, paralyzed, and petrified of moving forward in business.
(READ: it sets women up to be poor, insecure, and to lack upward mobility at work and in society)
Listen to this episode to learn more about this phenomenon, how it is holding so many women back from success, and how to release yourself from the bondage of ‘indecision’.
