How I achieved Multiple Six Figures in 18 Months
“Since the beginning of my business, I’ve consistently prioritized and invested in continuing education.”
Janelle Lara
I started my business in April 2018 with a $10,000 loan. In just a year and a half, my business has grossed over $250,000. While most of that happened in 2019, it still feels like an incredible accomplishment.
More importantly, everything that I have done, you can also do. I don’t have any special talents. But I do have a knack for business, and I’ve been committed and consistent since the beginning.
“When I talk about education, I’m talking about investing in opportunities that grow your mind.” - Janelle Lara (3:46 - 3:51)
Let’s take a look at a few of the things that I’ve done so you can apply them in your business and experience similar (or even better) results as me.
Education is a priority.
One thing that I have been consistent about is that I have been prioritizing and investing in education since the very beginning. The value of education was instilled in me from a young age by my parents, who immigrated from Cuba. They understood that all your material wealth can be taken from you, but no one can ever take what you know.
Although specialized knowledge can be valuable, when I talk about education, I don’t necessarily mean more schooling. My grandfather only had a fourth-grade education, and he built multiple successful businesses.
Real education is investing in opportunities that allow your mind to grow. That could mean books, podcasts, hiring a coach, investing in courses, and formal education. Investing in personal growth has been one of the most critical components of my success as an entrepreneur.
Be authentic and consistent.
Another thing I’ve done is that I’ve been relentlessly consistent with my messaging and branding. My message has been the same since the very beginning: I help women build six-figure businesses while working part-time.
I’m completely open about who I am. I make it clear that my family is a top priority for me. Everyone who follows me knows that I am a Christian and that my faith is important to me. They also know that I am a first-generation American, and they know my backstory.
Being authentic and vulnerable allows me to attract the people that are a perfect fit for me.
Investing in myself and my business.
I’m always investing in myself and my business. I work with a coach who’s been crucial for me as well as an accountability partner who I couldn’t do without.
I’ve invested in attending events and joining high-level masterminds. Connecting with like-minded entrepreneurs and associating with key players in the game has helped propel my business to a new level.
Attending events gives you cutting-edge information. Books and podcasts are only current at the time of their release, and things are always changing. Events teach you the latest information. You can apply what you learn at the events to your client’s businesses and separate yourself from the competition.

These three things have been foundational in my business success. How can you start implementing them in your business today, so you can grow your business into multiple six figures in a relatively short time?
